FAQ
Setup: quickstart. Errors: troubleshooting. Everything else: support.
1. Is there a free trial?
Yes. 7 days, no card. After 7 days the connection switches off unless you subscribe.
2. What does it cost?
Usage-tiered, billed monthly, excl. VAT:
- Standard: 0 to 500 MCP Tool calls per user per month, EUR 49 per user per month.
- Pro: 501 to 1,000 calls per user per month, EUR 79 per user per month.
Above 1,000 calls per user per month, contact sales@moonlit.ai. The Moonlit Data API is priced separately, on request.
3. What data does Moonlit see when I use the MCP?
Your account email (from the OAuth flow), the API key you paste at consent, your query strings, tool-call telemetry (tool name, timestamp, response status, latency), and the MCP client identifier. Document bodies returned to you are not stored beyond operational cache.
4. Where is data hosted? Are there US data transfers?
Microsoft Azure, EU regions only.
5. Who are the sub-processors?
Microsoft Azure (EU regions) hosts the MCP Server, the APIM gateway, and Moonlit's own OAuth 2.1 authorisation server. No third-party identity provider is used. Google Vertex AI (europe-west4, Netherlands) handles query embedding for hybrid search and the reranking step inside hybrid_search_reranked, with zero data retention and no use for training. Inside Claude or any other MCP-compatible client, Anthropic processes your prompts under its own privacy policy.
6. What are my GDPR rights?
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection. Email privacy@moonlit.ai. You can also lodge a complaint with the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.
7. Is the MCP the same as the Moonlit Data API?
No. The MCP server exposes seven tools curated for LLM use inside Claude or another MCP-compatible client. The Data API is a REST surface for embedding the Moonlit Data Layer into your own backend or product. Both read from the same data layer; access, pricing, and integration shape differ. See the Data API overview.
8. How do I report a bug or a wrong document?
Email support@moonlit.ai with the tool call, arguments, timestamp, and the document identifier. We respond within 1 business day.
