1. Is there a free trial?

Yes, there is a free test trial. Request your key here. Or get in touch to discuss.

2. What does it cost?

We use a bucket model based on monthly API call volume; details on request.

3. Where is data hosted? Are there US data transfers?

Microsoft Azure, EU regions only.

4. Who are the sub-processors?

Microsoft Azure (EU regions) hosts the API and supporting infrastructure. Google Vertex AI (europe-west4, Netherlands) handles query embedding for semantic and hybrid search and the reranking step inside hybrid_search_reranked, with zero data retention.

5. Is the Data API the same as the MCP?

No. The Data API is a REST surface for embedding the Moonlit Data Layer into your own backend or product. The MCP server exposes seven tools curated for LLM use inside Claude or another MCP-compatible client. Both read from the same data layer; access, pricing, and integration shape differ. See the MCP overview.

6. How do I report a bug or a wrong document?

Email support@moonlit.ai with the endpoint, request payload, timestamp, and the document identifier. We respond within 1 business day.
